MoodKolkata is run by Advertia Digital, Kolkata. It plays songs and audio stories from YouTube. You can use all of it without an account and without telling us anything.
On your device
Your starred tracks, playlists, listening history, where you stopped, and your settings are saved in your own browser so the site remembers them. We also set two small cookies: one holds a random ID with no name or email in it, so your history can join your account if you sign in later; the other remembers the language you chose. Both expire after a year. If you do not sign in, none of this leaves your device, and you can clear it from your browser settings at any time.
If you sign in
Signing in is optional. It exists so your library follows you to your other devices. You can sign in with Google or with an email link. From Google we receive only your name, email address and profile picture; we never see your password and we ask for nothing else. We then keep, on secure servers: your email, name and picture; your starred tracks, playlists and where you stopped; your listening history; and your settings.
We use this only to run your account and to choose better what the radio plays. It is never sold, rented or shared, and never used for advertising.
The weekly email
If you are signed in, you can switch on a weekly email: the week's new blog posts, songs and stories, sent on Sundays. In a week with nothing new, no email goes out. It stays off until you switch it on yourself in More. For it we keep your email address (already part of your account), whether the email is on or off, when you last changed that, the language you want it in, and when the last one was sent. It is sent through Amazon SES, the email service of Amazon Web Services; Amazon receives your address only to deliver the email.
To stop it, switch it off in More, or use the link at the foot of every email, which works without signing in. The email carries no tracking pixel and no ads. Its links say only that the visit came from the weekly email, so we can count those visits; nothing in them identifies you. Your address is never shared or sold, and never used for advertising.
Measurement
We use Google Analytics to count visits and pages, and Microsoft Clarity to see how pages are used (scrolling, taps and movement), so we can make the site better. Both are loaded through Google Tag Manager and set their own cookies. Google's use is covered by the Google Privacy Policy, and Microsoft's by the Microsoft Privacy Statement. You can opt out of Clarity at clarity.microsoft.com/opt-out.
The site also counts its own page views: how many times each page was opened on each day, and roughly how many different visitors opened it. It keeps no personal data for this and sets no cookie for visitors. Telling one visitor from another uses a code that changes every day and cannot be traced back to you, and it is deleted after two days. The only cookie involved is one we set on our own devices, so our visits are left out of the counts.
YouTube
Every song and story plays in YouTube's own player, and MoodKolkata uses the YouTube API Services. When you press play, YouTube receives the request and may set its own cookies. Using the site means agreeing to the YouTube Terms of Service; what YouTube and Google do with that data is set out in the Google Privacy Policy. You can review or revoke the access you have given this site at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
The Pandal Passport
In the Puja Guide you can stamp the pandals you have seen. A stamp is saved in your browser; if you are signed in, it is also kept with your account so it reaches your other devices. For each stamp we keep which pandal, when you stamped it, and, if you checked in, when and how many metres you were from the pandal.
Checking in asks your browser for your location once, only when you press the button. The comparison with the pandal is made on your phone and your location is never sent to us or stored: only the distance is kept. You can remove any stamp, and deleting your account deletes them all.
If you are signed in, check-ins earn points. You can join the leaderboard by choosing a name to show; until you do, you are not on it, and you can leave at any time. Others see only that name and your points, never your email or account. If you invite friends, we keep which invite code an account arrived with, only to count the invite.
Photo of the Day: if you send a photo, we keep the picture, the pandal, the day, your caption and the Instagram name you give for credit. It is shown only after we have checked it, with that credit or your leaderboard name, and you agree we may also show it on our social pages. Votes are kept one per account per photo; only the totals are shown. Before a photo is stored, everything hidden in the file is removed, including the location your camera may have written into it. Photos are kept until you ask us to remove one or delete your account; rejected photos are seen only by you and by us. An invite link names you to the friend who opens it by your leaderboard name, or else your first name.
What we do not do
No ads, no ad tracking, and no selling or sharing of your data. We never keep your location; the Pandal Passport keeps only a distance, as described above.
Keeping and deleting
We keep your account data for as long as you have an account. You can clear your listening history yourself from Library; if you are signed in, it is cleared from your account too. To delete your whole account, email [email protected] from the address you signed in with. Everything tied to it is removed, and we confirm when it is done. You do not have to give a reason.
Children
Signing in is meant for adults. If you are under 18, please sign in only with a parent's or guardian's permission.
Questions and complaints
Write to [email protected] about anything on this page, including a request to see, correct or delete your data. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
