Durga Puja in Delhi NCR 2026: CR Park pandal by pandal, then Noida and Gurugram

Durga Puja 2026 in Delhi NCR: the dates as Delhi's own pujas keep them, what CR Park's committees have announced, the older pujas of Delhi, and Noida and Gurugram.

In this post (6)

If your Puja is at CR Park's Cooperative Ground, Maha Ashtami this year is on a Sunday. Its invitation card for 2026 puts Ashtami on Sunday 18 October and the Sandhi Puja at 7.26 am on Monday. Ramakrishna Mission in Paharganj keeps Ashtami on Monday 19 October with the Sandhi at 10.28 am. Neither is wrong. They read different almanacs, and in Delhi the almanac a committee follows decides the day you take leave for.

Each entry below lists only what a committee has put on its own website, card or page, and says where. Where a puja has yet to announce its dates or timings, the entry says so and gives none.

When is Durga Puja 2026 in Delhi?

Durga Puja 2026 in Delhi runs from Shashthi on Friday 16 October to Bijoya Dashami on Wednesday 21 October. The one day that moves is Saptami. Drikpanchang's Durga Puja calendar for New Delhi puts Saptami and the Kola Bou's bath on Saturday 17 October; its Kolkata calendar puts them on Sunday 18. The same shift moves the start: in Delhi the Kalparambha, the Bodhon and the Adhivas fall on Friday 16, a day before Kolkata's Saturday. Ramakrishna Mission Delhi's own programme fits the Delhi reading and lists Saptami across 17 and 18 October.

The reason is the sunrise. By drikpanchang, Shashthi tithi ends at 5.54 am on Saturday 17 October. The sun rises in Kolkata at 5.34, so Kolkata's Saturday still belongs to Shashthi. In Delhi it rises at 6.23, by which time Saptami has begun. The Cooperative Ground's card makes the same kind of call a day later: its Gupta Press panjika ends Saptami at 5.53 am on Sunday, before Delhi's sunrise, so the committee keeps Sunday as Maha Ashtami.

The Cooperative Ground's card says in its Bengali schedule that it follows the Gupta Press panjika, reckoned for Delhi. The two almanacs put the end of Ashtami about three hours apart, and the Sandhi Puja, which is timed to straddle that end, shows it: drikpanchang ends Ashtami at 10.51 am on Monday, while the card's Sandhi runs from 7.26 to 8.14 am. That is how a Sunday Ashtami and a Monday Ashtami can sit in the same city. Drikpanchang's Sandhi for New Delhi, 10.27 to 11.15 am, is the same clock time as its Kolkata one: a tithi ends at one instant for the whole country, and only the day it is counted on moves with the sunrise. Our day-by-day guide to the Kolkata dates has what each rite means.

CR Park: the colony and its pujas

Chittaranjan Park began as the EPDP Colony, the East Pakistan Displaced Persons Colony, laid out in the early 1960s for families who had come west after Partition. Wikipedia's article on Chittaranjan Park says 2,147 plots were given out on 99-year leases, since converted to freehold, and dates the new name, after Chittaranjan Das, to the 1980s. It lists the big pujas as B Block, the Kali Mandir, Cooperative Ground, Mela Ground and Navapalli in Pocket 40.

For getting there, the same article puts Nehru Enclave and Greater Kailash on the Magenta Line, and Nehru Place on the Violet Line, all within about a kilometre of the colony. For any change to train hours over the Puja nights, check Delhi Metro's own site on the day rather than last year's numbers.

The Cooperative Ground Durga Puja

Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore Cooperative Ground, Chittaranjan Park

The one with the most to read before you go. Its own site says the puja began in 1975 and that 2026 is its 51st year, and the 2026 invitation card has the full programme, from the Panchami inauguration at 7.30 pm on 15 October to the boron, the women's farewell to the goddess, at 10 am on 21 October. The committee no longer takes the idol to the Yamuna; it does a symbolic immersion inside the grounds, at 5 pm on Dashami by its card. And its sindoor khela is open to every woman, married or not, which the site spells out: single, widowed, divorced and transgender women included.

Mela Ground Durga Puja

Mela Ground, Chittaranjan Park

An older page of the committee says the puja started in 1976. For 2026 its Facebook page has posted a Culture Fiesta at the ground from 15 to 20 October, and a run of competitions before and during it, most with on-the-spot registration: fancy dress for children and a 50-and-over singing contest on 11 October, instrumental music on the 12th, a children's dance on the 13th, an antakshari for teams of three on the 14th, drawing on the morning of Saptami, 17 October, and musical chairs on 19 October. The Puja's own timings are not announced yet.

Chittaranjan Park Kali Mandir

Mandir Complex, on the small hill, Chittaranjan Park

The temple was founded in 1973 and held its first Durga Puja in 1977, which its own site and Wikipedia's article on the temple both give. The same article says ponds in Bengal are booked in advance for its blue lotuses, and that the idols are made in a small atelier on the premises. The society's notice board has the run-up for 2026: a Pujor Mela from 25 September to 13 October, Agomoni on 11 October, and an Anando Mela on Panchami, when the winners of its competitions, dhunuchi dancing among them, are announced.

In 2026 a round number: its page says it is celebrating 30 years of Durga Puja. It starts on Mahalaya morning, Saturday 10 October, with a tarpan from 7.30 am at Sri Sri Ramkrishna Park in D Block, in two batches, with everything for the rite provided and no fee; dakshina to the purohit is up to you. The Anandomela on Panchami, 15 October, from 6 pm, has a home-cooking competition. For children there is a fancy dress competition on Shashthi evening and an on-the-spot drawing competition on Sunday morning, 18 October, with no registration; bring your own drawing materials, the topics are given there. On Navami night, 20 October, Prasun Banerjee and his band play from 10 pm.

Older than CR Park: Kashmere Gate, Mandir Marg and Paharganj

CR Park is the name everyone knows today, but it is not where Delhi's Bengali Puja began. The oldest community puja in the city is older than the colony by half a century.

Delhi Durga Puja Samiti, Kashmere Gate

Bengali Senior Secondary School lawns, Alipur Road

Wikipedia's article on the Samiti dates it to 1910, at the Roshanpura Kali Mandir near Nai Sarak, worshipping a mangal ghat, an earthen pot, until the first idol in 1912. From 1926 the idol was made in Delhi itself. The same article describes the Dashami procession, with the goddess on a bullock cart and the dhakis with her. The committee's own page adds that the Samiti bought its own dhaks in 1951, that its members played them at first, and that dhakis from Kolkata have come since 1968. Neither the page nor its site has announced the 2026 dates yet.

New Delhi Kali Bari

Mandir Marg, next to the Laxminarayan Temple

Wikipedia's article on the Kali Bari says its Durga Puja began in 1925 on Baird Road and moved to the present temple after 1931, and that it still makes the goddess and her children on one frame, the ekchala, in the old style. Until 13 October its page is taken up with a handloom and handicraft fair on the premises, 11 am to 9 pm; the Puja programme is not announced yet.

Durga Puja in Gurugram

Gurugram's committees have published the least so far. Two have said something for 2026, and both call their own Puja the biggest in the city.

Bangiya Parishad, Gurgaon

Sector 56, Gurugram

The Parishad was started in Sector 56 in 2006, by its own account, and holds its Puja near its office there. Its 2026 posts give this year's theme as Gram Bangla, the village Bengal of ponds, paddy fields and shiuli, and promise an Anandamela, the food fair, on the evening of Shashthi, a dhunuchi naach competition on Navami, as every year, and a band, Riddles, on the Pujo grounds on Navami night. It opens the season on Mahalaya morning, 10 October, with Mahishasuramardini, tea and adda on the Puja grounds in Sector 56 from 6 to 8.30 am.

If you are in Delhi and your pandal is a screen

Some of you reading this in Delhi will spend part of the Puja at a desk. For those hours we would keep the Pujo mood running, and save three songs for the evenings. The rest are in our Durga Puja songs list.

From Challenge 2 (2012), Abhijeet and Shreya Ghoshal, just under five minutes. The one to play on Panchami evening, when the card says the Puja opens at 7.30 and you are still on your way there.
