Barasat Kali Puja 2026
Barasat Kali Puja falls on Sun 8 Nov 2026, and the first question is a practical one: which station do you get off at? The pujas gather around three stops on the Sealdah line: Madhyamgram, Hridaypur and Barasat Junction. Below are pujas from the district police's 2025 list, grouped by nearest station. After them come the road, the airport and the rules for the night. The police have not put out their 2026 map, road closures or cracker hours yet. We will add them here when they do.

How to reach Barasat from Kolkata
By train
From Sealdah, take a local on the Bangaon line or the Hasnabad line. Barasat Junction is where the Hasnabad branch leaves the Bangaon line, so trains to both stop there. English Wikipedia puts Barasat about 23 km from Sealdah by rail, with Madhyamgram and then Hridaypur as the two stops before it; get off at whichever is nearest the pujas you want. Local trains run often, but we have no official journey time to give you, so check live trains on NTES before you leave. We have seen no word yet on extra trains for Kali Puja night.
By road
By car, take Jessore Road. It runs from Kolkata through Dum Dum Cantonment, Birati and Madhyamgram to Barasat, and its stretch from Dum Dum to Barasat is part of NH 12. At Dakbanglo More in Barasat the road splits: NH 12 carries on north, and NH 112 heads for Petrapole. Last year the police closed roads to traffic at points such as Dakbanglo More and Hela Battala, and named parking places including Hela Battala, Sethpukur and one in front of Sarama Cinema Hall. That was 2025. The 2026 closures and parking are not announced yet. Bus route numbers are not given here: we have found no official route list to point you to.
By air
By English Wikipedia's count, Kolkata's airport, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International at Dum Dum, is about 9 km from Dakbanglo More along Jessore Road.
Metro
The Metro does not reach Barasat yet, as of October 2026. The Yellow Line runs only between Noapara and Jai Hind, the airport station. English Wikipedia lists the next stretch, from Jai Hind to Michael Nagar, as under construction, and the rest of the way to Barasat as planned. We have no firm opening date to give.
On the night: police, crackers, help
Barasat Police District has not announced its 2026 arrangements yet. Last year the district police ran a puja website with a pandal map, no-entry points, parking places and police assistance booths. Colony More, Dakbanglo More and Champadali More were among the booth sites. On crackers, one rule stands across West Bengal: only green crackers that carry a QR code may be sold or burst. The Calcutta High Court ordered it on 11 Oct 2022, and the state Pollution Control Board passed the order on to every district's police chief and magistrate. The hours for bursting them in Barasat this year are not announced yet. If you need the police on the night, Barasat Police Station is on 033 2552 3543. In an emergency, dial 112.
